Austria's popular music has a dialect of its own, the Viennese of the Wienerlied and the Schrammel quartets at the Heuriger, which Roland Neuwirth, Ernst Molden and Voodoo Jürgens still sing, and it found its pop voice in the Austropop of Wolfgang Ambros, Georg Danzer, Ludwig Hirsch, Rainhard Fendrich, STS and the Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung, and then Falco, who took Rock Me Amadeus to the world; around them the Alps of Hubert von Goisern and Attwenger, the jazz of Joe Zawinul, the Vienna downtempo of Kruder & Dorfmeister and Tosca, Fennesz and Parov Stelar, the rock and indie of Naked Lunch, Kreisky, Wanda and Bilderbuch, and the pop and rap of Christina Stürmer, Conchita Wurst, Seiler und Speer, Yung Hurn and RAF Camora. The list has 55 records from 1963 to 2022, one or two by each of the names above and only a small part of what they made; the opera and the symphonies Vienna is known for, the brass bands of the villages and the schlager of the charts would each need a list of their own. About 43 hours of music, 5 days of a few records each.
