Peru's popular music has the vals criollo of Lima and the cajón under it, in Chabuca Granda, Lucha Reyes, Arturo Zambo Cavero and Eva Ayllón, the festejo and landó that Nicomedes Santa Cruz, Perú Negro and Susana Baca carried on, the huayno of the Andes in Picaflor de los Andes, Pastorita Huaracina and the Ayacucho guitars of Raúl García Zárate and Manuelcha Prado, the chicha that Los Destellos, Juaneco y su Combo and Los Mirlos brought down from the Amazon and Chacalón and Los Shapis sang to Lima, the garage rock of Los Saicos and Traffic Sound, Frágil and Pedro Suárez-Vértiz, and today Kanaku y el Tigre, Dengue Dengue Dengue and Renata Flores, who raps in Quechua. The list has 55 records from 1950 to 2021, one or two by each name and only a small part of what they made; the huayno of each region beyond a few, the song of the Amazon, the brass bands of the fiestas and most of the classical tradition, with Juan Diego Flórez as a single nod, are left for other lists. About 38 hours of music, 5 days of a few records each.
